Herculex I and Herculex Xtra

Herculex® I Insect Protection delivers the broadest spectrum above-ground in-plant insect protection available.

Herculex® I Insect Protection delivers superior in-plant protection against more above-ground destructive pests than any other trait and is the only trait that protects against Western Bean Cutworm and Black Cutworm. Herculex I provides powerful protection against:

• First- and second-generation European Corn Borer
• Western Bean Cutworm
• Black Cutworm
• All generations of Southwestern Corn Borer
• Fall Armyworm
• Southern Corn Stalk Borer
• Lesser Cornstalk Borer
• Sugarcane Borer
• Corn Earworm (suppression)

Herculex® XTRA combines Herculex I Insect Protection and Herculex RW Rootworm Protection for powerful protection above- and below-ground. Its whole-plant protection works all season long and shields your corn unlike any other trait.

Herculex XTRA is the first to offer a Quad-Stack™ trait. This powerful trait stacks Herculex XTRA with Roundup Ready® Corn 2 and LibertyLink® technologies for unequaled insect protection and flexible herbicide tolerance.

Herbicide Tolerance

All Herculex I hybrids contain the LibertyLink trait for tolerance to LIBERTY® herbicide when applied over-the-top.

For maximum herbicide flexibility, many Herculex I hybrids are also available stacked with Roundup Ready technology.

IRM Requirements

Growers who plant corn hybrids with Herculex I Insect Protection and Herculex XTRA are responsible for following Insect Resistance Management (IRM) requirements, including:

• Planting 20 percent of corn acres as non-Bt corn or non-corn borer resistant Bt corn refuge or a 50 percent refuge in corn/cotton areas.
• Refuge must be planted within at least one-half mile of a field planted with Herculex I hybrids.

Grain Marketing Guidelines

Grain from Herculex I Insect Protection hybrids containing Herculex I only is fully approved for food and feed use in the European Union; however, this approval does not apply to grain (or processed products from this grain, such as gluten) from Herculex I hybrids containing the trait combination of Herculex I stacked with Roundup Ready Corn 2. Herculex I Insect Protection/Roundup REady Corn 2 corn is a Market Choices® product and must be marketed accordingly.

Herculex XTRA Insect Protection is a Market Choices product. Grain harvested from products that bear this mark is fully approved for food and feed use in the United States and Japan, but is not approved in the European Union. You must find a market for this crop that will not ship this grain or its processed products to Europe. Appropriate markets for this grain include: domestic feed use or grain handlers that specifically agree to accept this grain and handle it appropriately.
